Thanks in large part to the coordinating efforts of WWVF2S and the goodwill of many, the school garden program has benefited from donated materials, time and funding over the past years from the following community partners:


  1. PTAs and parent volunteers – provide programmatic funding, building/maintenance and utilization of school gardens and providing lessons
  2. FFA – teachers and students grow spring plant starts
  3. Whitman College Community Engagement Center – help to coordinate volunteers and interns for a variety of tasks in utilizing and maintaining school gardens
  4. Whitman Science Outreach – providing venue, framework and science expertise for teacher professional development in using school gardens to meet Next Generation Science Standards
  5. WWPS Teaching and Learning Department – funding for lesson and gardening materials and stipend support for School Garden Teacher Liaisons
  6. WWPS Maintenance Department – install fences, sheds and irrigation.
  7. Farmers and other businesses– donating compost, starts and seeds
  8. Tree Care Businesses – donating wood chips and tree stumps
  9. WWVF2S volunteers donating time for program development, implementation and oversight, garden maintenance, seeds, equipment, lesson materials,
  10. Variety of local community foundations and businesses – donated funding and fundraising venues
  11. High School carpentry classes have built garden equipment boxes and sheds
  12. Middle School carpentry classes building mason bee homes
  13. 21st century after school program providing outreach to students and program support
  14. Middle School ASB – providing funding to purchase ingredients for cooking classes
